Leading and directing the continuous improvement of parks and open spaces across the borough for the benefit of people and wildlife. Responsible for all operational activity of the Ashford Parks Foundation including corporate governance, commercial and philanthropic income, improvement projects, and volunteering and events programmes.

Responsible for managing the delivery phase of the ABC National Lottery Heritage Fund Parks for People project, valued at £4.4 million. The Victoria Park and Watercress Fields project runs until 2024 and includes part-restoration of the iconic Grade II Listed Hubert Fountain and surrounding piazza, a new community hub, a new children’s play area, improvements to the chalk river, a new urban wetland, and improved cycling infrastructure across the park.

Lewes And Eastbourne

Managing development projects from inception to delivery. Taking responsibility for the achievement of programme targets and leading on the delivery of individual projects. Developing strong business cases and securing external funding to deliver priority projects. Working closely with key sectors and businesses to support growth and investment.

To facilitate service planning, corporate target setting and work plans across Eastbourne and Lewes councils. Provide guidance on corporate and service performance management systems and processes. Independently analyse and interpret complex data sets from a range of sources and produce clear, accurate and meaningful reports. Contribute to the development, management and review of the Councils' performance management framework. Contribute to developing the councils’ approach to customer and performance data, insight and analysis.

Improve the delivery of high profile corporate and community projects through the successful management of change and transformation, proactive performance management, and professional projects standards.

To ensure a dedicated focus on how we work with customers to better understand what they want, to reduce demand for services by preventing problems occurring in the first place, to encourage customers to choose the new self-service options, to play a key role in monitoring the success of the organisation, and identifying areas for further service improvement.

To assist with the management of the Council’s waste management contract, and the development and implementation of the Council’s Waste Strategy. To devise and implement waste awareness campaigns, promotions and to create promotional opportunities. To manage and supervise the work of the Waste Awareness Officer and any casual or seconded staff. To ensure the integrity of statutory data.

Secondment additional to full-time post.- Supervision/management of Parking Supervisor and Officers.- Approval of financial matters, review and approval of actions where monies owed are outstanding and budget management.- Review of parking appeals and actions associated with/management of the same.- Review of and actioning of any issues associated with car parks, street name plates, chalets and bus shelters. Actioning where management intervention and/or expenditure is required.- Reviewing and progressing opportunities for income generation

To manage the payment of recycling credits from East Sussex County Council, and use WasteDataFlow to monitor and report Council performance against statutory commitments. To devise and assist with the waste awareness campaigns and promotions, and to create promotional opportunities. To assist with the development and implementation of the Council’s Waste Strategy.
