Responsible for the training, health and welfare of a 120 Soldier combat engineer unit within the California Army National Guard. Maintains a command climate that fosters the Army Values and the Warrior Ethos, trains leaders and Soldiers, and maximizes combat readiness. Trains personnel and ensures equipment readiness in preparation for civil support and wartime missions. Organizes, trains, equips, sustains, and provides command and control for three combat engineer platoons and one maintenance platoon. Established and maintained a strength management program focused on recruiting, retention, and family readiness.

Served as a primary engineer resource planner within the 40th Infantry Division, California Army National Guard. Developed and maintained real-time equipment and personnel running estimates used to create detailed utilization plans for Army combat engineering and construction engineering resources across the Division.

Served as the second-in-command of a 150 Soldier Army National Guard construction company. Acted as primary unit project manager and operations officer for all assigned training events. Oversaw all activities pertaining to unit administrative, logistics, and maintenance functions. Additionally functioned as the company headquarters platoon leader, providing leadership and mentorship to 12 assigned Soldiers.Utilized the 30-60-90 day planning process to plan, track, and resource company training events.

Organizes, trains, and equips members of the California Army and Air National Guard to provide direct support to counter-narcotic enforcement and prevention efforts throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties. Coordinates with Federal, State, and Local agencies on the solicitation, evaluation, and validation of military support requests throughout the area of operations. Additionally serves as the primary military liaison to the San Diego - Imperial Valley High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (SDI HIDTA).

Supervised all California National Guard engineering activities related to construction and infrastructure maintenance operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection along the Southwest Border in the San Diego Sector. At the direction of the District Commander, developed and planned authorized Counterdrug Task Force missions within the San Diego region. Ensured district activities were conducted in compliance with National Guard Bureau regulatory guidance and that mission metrics were recorded into systems of record.
