The core purpose of the Planet Project is to help create the optimal conditions for the emergence of a new worldview and civilization that honors all people, all life, and our planet. These optimal conditions must be cultural conditions because culture shapes our worldview and operating assumptions. Today our prevalent culture supports the view that humans are rulers of the planet, entitled to extract and consume her resources and pollute her air and waters endlessly, without consequences. The Planet Project aims to co-create a new culture and worldview that recognizes our planet as one whole interconnected system of systems that includes all people, all life, and the natural environment.

Why is there so much chaos and suffering in the world today? Are we sliding towards dystopia and perhaps extinction, or is there hope for a better future? What happened in the human lineage over the last three million years that made us into a near-geologic force capable of altering the face of our planet and threatening our own existence? In Emerging World, Roger Briggs explores the evolution of consciousness and shows that this is behind everything humans have done, are now doing, and are capable of in the future. "Journey to Civilization: The Science of How We Got Here" is the new creation story of the universe, Earth, life, and humanity based on the evidence and skepticism of science. It explores and explains the science itself, from the physics of stars and the formation of rocky planets, to the evolution of life and the epic journey of humans out of Africa to cover the Earth. Journey to Civilization is written for the non-scientist in clear, straight-forward language, and is richly illustrated with diagrams, charts, and beautiful color graphics and photographs.

The Boulder Climbing Community is a non-profit organization that partners with land managers, organizations, businesses, and individuals to promote stewardship in climbing areas near Boulder, Colorado. Through our many partnerships we leveraged over $1 million towards our mission from 2011 until 2018 when I left the organization.

My first three years in the Public Schools were spent teaching at Southern Hills Junior High in Boulder where I learned everything I needed to know, then I spent the next 28 years at Fairview High School teaching physics, and building other programs. During my first eight years at Fairview I coached Cross Country and Track, with Fairview Knight teams winning four Colorado State Championship titles. Later I developed the 2-year AP and IB Physics course, the first of its kind in the world, and served as science department head and school technology coordinator for ten years. My colleagues honored me by nominating me for the the $10,000 Amgen Award for Science Teaching Excellence, which I received in 2002. I retired from Boulder Valley Schools in 2005, but I still like to tutor students in physics.
