Site based role at Christmas Creek as part of a team project managing the construction of the new Heavy Vehicle Worshop and associated infrastructure for Christmas Creek Stage 2.

Civil Design- Designed Roads and Drainage in accordance with local Council, Vic Roads and Melbourne Water design standards;- Designed of Sewer and Water in line with Water Authority design standards;- Coordinated design of gas, electrical and communications services (design of service corridors);- Designed of Environmental Management Plan & Construction Management Plan through liaison with contractors to ensure site safety and conformance to environmental standards.- Designed in accordance with Australian standards to ensure public safety.- Management of regulatory approvals;- Preparation of construction drawings for tender process;Project Management- Scheduling of works for tender and preparation of tender documents;- Tender issue and evaluation of contractor submission;- Managed preparation and execution of contract documents;- Coordinating client and contractor to resolve site issues;- Management of construction budget, including progress claims;- Obtaining construction compliance from relevant road and service authorities;

Construction Supervision•Regular inspection of construction works to ensure conformance to authority standards;•Responsible for site management and safety e.g. -Conformance to confined space entry best practice (completed Confined Space Entry course); -Ensuring adequate barriers are used for trenching based on site conditions; -Adequate protection is used for exposed reinforcement.•Commissioning of infrastructure works in coordination with infrastructure authorities (i.e. South East Water, Council and Vic Roads), to ensure Certificate of Completion.Tender Management•Auditing of design for consistency with design standards and constructability;•Compilation of tender documents including development of schedule of quantities;•Tender evaluation and recommendation to client;•Appointment of contractor on behalf of client.Contract Management including request for information, variations and progress payments.

Secondment To City Wide - North Melbourne, Victoria

Tasks undertaken during this time include:• Assisting in setting up of the design team and establishment of systems that have allowed for greater efficiency and quality of work produced;• Assessment of Melbourne City Council design concepts for survey and implementation;• 3D design of road, footpath and drainage works using 12D and AutoCAD;• Training of new staff in AutoCAD and 12D;• Use of Melbourne City Council asset database;• Resolution of design/construction issues through regular communication with Council and Contractor.

A selection of projects undertaken during this time:• Elwood Foreshore – Design Project ManagementWorked with Council and project Architect to develop the civil design of the Elwood Foreshore redevelopment.• Bunning’s Defect Reporting – Construction AuditingUndertook site investigations and audit of existing Bunning’s sites throughout Victoria. Compiled defect reporting and proposed rectification options to increase the life of the infrastructure.• Feasibility Investigations – Service Reporting Multiple investigations of Civil service infrastructure for proposed developments. Included evaluation of service authority planning and correspondence with authorities to determine estimates on costs associated with Civil Services for the developer prior to detailed design.
