Ever since I was a kid, Telecom fascinated me. I was curious to know how my home telephone transferred spoken words to the other person.This eagerness encouraged me to pursue an Engineering degree in Electronics & Telecom. While I enjoyed, I made sure I was leading the scoreboardBut when I came across "Computer Communication Network" as a subject, It was love at first sight and I knew this is what I want to keep with me for the rest of my time.My first professional break was as a Field Network Engineer (Dimension Data). I got my first opportunity to come face2face with a Router. Not only did I installed Routers physically but also performed basic SW tasks like installing/upgrading OS on Cisco routers/switches, initial provisioning, Password recovery, etc.I am happy to say that I started from Layer-1 of the OSI model :)My next venture came in what is today the largest ISP in India: Jio. I joined in its R&D wing as Test Engineer. During this time the Network Design was just in discussion. My role was to conduct system testing PoCs with leading Router OEMS (Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, Nokia, ZTE) against the Test plan we prepared. In the process. I recall spending most of my times in Lab, doing things by myself. I must admit that this experience taught me to see the bigger picture. I went from reading answers to give answers to complex problems.Hereafter I joined Ribbons communication (erstwhile ECI Telecom) which is also my present workplace. It has given me a platform to set loose and spread my wings. I joined as Senior SW test Engineer for the Neptune product line. This time I was testing individual features like OSPF, LDP, LFA based FRR, Segment-Routing, SR-TE, RSVP-TE, etc.I work closely with System Architects, Designers and Developers. With my technical insights and ability to see the big picture, I am able to provide directions to the team, unit and project.I work in solving complex and escalated issues from fields. I also provide technical trainings to various teams.I was promoted to Technical Architect which requires me to serve as the unit's technical POC. Some of the added responsibility includes (but not limited to) Breaking complex features into parts, Participate in Discovery meetings, technical knowledge assistance to the unit, Participate in Test plan reviews, etc.It has been close to 12 years . but the fire still burns as new.
