Regional Director of Community Medicine with clinical oversight at Geisinger’s Mt.Pleasant, Mt.Pocono and Moosic offices.
Cortland, Ny, Us
In 2014 I left UHS for an exciting opportunity to serve as CMO / VPMA of Cortland Regional Medical Center, a struggling community health system in Upstate NY. I was recruited as part of a brand new executive team hired to turn around the system knowing that eventually it would have to merge with a larger system in order to survive in the challenging New York health care climate. In addition to managing the day to day duties of a system Medical Director, I was tasked with stabilizing what was a dysfunctional Hospitalist practice and build and recruit for a multi-specialty aligned physician practice. Prior to my arrival the system had recruited just one physician in the previous 6 years. During my short time I was able to recruit over 35 new physicians to the group, bring up multiple distinct specialty services including Oncology, Pulmonary, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Gastroenterology. I was also successful in recruiting Orthopedics, General Surgeons and Urologist to the system. During this time I also had to navigate a full Joint Commission Survey, a NYS final jeopardy survey and was able to implement best practices to reduce the Hospital All Harm score by over 75% with a score in 2016 of 19/1000 which was the best in NYS. After suffering a severe life altering accident in the fall of 2016 and the announcement that the system was ready to merge (Ultimately with Guthrie Health System) and planned to do begin integration by the end of 2017 I resigned to concentrate on my physical rehabilitation and my young family.

In 2007 in conjunction to serving as the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director, I was promoted to Chief Hospitalist. I recruited and built the program from a 1 Hospital 4 FTE physician program to a 3 Hospital 24 FTE physician program, introduced and developed allied providers, introduced real-time electronic billing and in my final year our service billed over 100,000 wRVU’s. During my 7 years we never once had to hire or bring on locum providers and I was able to anticipate and recruit to manage the rapidly growing census. As a highly engaged member of the Medical Staff I had the honor to serve on multiple high level hospital committees including the Medical Exec Committee, Quality, Internal Review Board, Grievance, Medical Education and served as Chairman of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee. As a member of the aligned multi-specialty medical group I served on the board of trustees for over 5 years providing guidance and oversight during full integration of the medical practice into the system.

I was brought into the program as an Assistant Program Director and in 2006 founded the Osteopathic Internal Medicine Residency which enabled the program to be dually accredited. I served as the Osteopathic Program Director and eventually in 2011 served as both Osteopathic and Allopathic Director as well as the Director of Osteopathic Medical Education.
Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, Us
My first job after graduating residency, I completed a five year local and state loan forgiveness commitment. A rural based health care system in North Eastern Pennsylvania. In addition to building a large traditional Internal Medicine practice, I served 1 year as President of the Medical Staff and logged over 5000 hours working the Emergency Room.
