Between 2012 and 2016 I worked with the General Secretary producing his presentations and speeches, as well as producing and monitoring the union's strategic plan. Since 2016 I have continued working on the strategic plan whilst working with the Deputy General Secretary and National Treasurer, providing them with strategic and communications support.

Employee Share OwnershipI have been working with ESOPs since 2007. My work has involved facilitating ESOP schemes as well as interpreting and demystifying them for trustees, employee representatives and beneficiaries. I have worked with the ESOPs of Anglo Coal (Siyaphambili Trust), AngloGold Ashanti (Bokamoso Trust), Anglo American Platinum (Kotula Trust), Northam Platinum (Toro Trust), Barloworld (4 trusts ranging from Black Directors to hourly paid workers), Vodacom (YeboYethu Trust), Royal Bafokeng Holdings (Mahube Trust), Samancor (Ndizani Trust), South African Breweries (Zenzele Trust), Scaw Metals (Scaw Employee Trust), Anglo Inyosi Coal (Anglo Inyosi Coal Community Trust), Anooraq Resources Corporation (Bokoni Trust) and African Rainbow Minerals (ARM Participation Fund).Strategic planningI have conducted evaluations and strategic planning sessions for many years, and I have brought that experience to the ESOPs I have worked with. So I have conducted strategic planning workshops for a number of the ESOP Trusts as well as other organisations. My approach is to start by building a common vision, then cascading that vision down through the development of goals and objectives, drawing out strategic plans and ultimately building detailed operational programmes. I do all of this in an interactive, participatory workshop environment.E-learning and website developmentI taught online and developed a mixed media course while at BCIT. In South Africa, I coordinated a team which designed, managed and taught an online post-graduate course for senior government officials jointly sponsored by University of the Western Cape and South African Qualifications Authority called ‘Lifelong Learning and National Qualification Frameworks: Leaders for Learning’.

• Produced an extensive report on UWC’s contribution to the Learning Cape Festival.• Wrote and delivered a training programme for the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA).• Co-authored with Professor Shirley Walters a paper on Learning Festivals and Learning Regions for the North American Adult Education Research Conference.

• Taught communication to diploma technology students from diverse educational, language and cultural backgrounds.• Researched, designed and wrote a new communications course, based on extended simulation, using on-line learning software in a face-to-face computer laboratory setting.• Produced technical documentation for industry.• Established and taught web-based courses using WebCT.

• Designed, wrote and taught 150 hour Communications course for ESL students.

• Developed training manuals and evaluated trainers for the Development Institute for Training, Support and Education for Labour (Ditsela). • Conducted training for the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).• Researched, developed and wrote trade union submissions to Essential Service hearings.

• Piloted design and implementation of skills-based training dispensation, including analysis of jobs, setting of skills standards and design of grading system. • Facilitated series of intensive workshops which resulted in agreement between employers and unions and implementation of Automobile Manufacturing Industry Certificate.

• Member of team which designed, developed, implemented and monitored national training program for 250 staff and 10,000 shop stewards. • Developed extensive training material for both NUMSA and COSATU; material was produced as step-by-step manuals for use by Regional and Local Education Officers.• Pioneered use of extended simulation techniques in skills-training workshops.• Used video for self-reflection and role play in training.

• Trained co-op members in production planning, accounting, marketing and management skills. • Restructured co-op with intention of economic viability.

• Initiated project and secured funding from British, Canadian and American sources.• Conducted 5 nine-month training courses in basic mechanics.• Trained Zimbabwean co-operative member to take over position. • Developed training program and all training materials. • Published edited training materials as a book (Zimbabwe Publishing House).
