Moved to Monsanto as a Project Instrument Engineer in 1975, and in 1977 moved to the UK HSE Nuclear Installations Inspectorate, specialising in Reactor Protection Instrumentation. Joined British Gas Safety and Reliability Department in 1978 as a Safety Engineer. Promoted to Principal Safety Engineer in 1983, responsible for Project Safety Management on major gas projects in UK, such as the Morecambe Gas project, with a team of 6 engineers. Moved to the Energy Insurance Industry in 1988, and worked for IES, AIG and Zurich as a Senior Risk Engineer, surveying oil, gas, and petrochemicals installations worldwide, occasional forrays into Mining, Pharmaceuticals and Shipbuilding. Retired from full time work in 2006, and since then have been an independant consultant "rjGrisk Engineering". Carried out assessments of installations in Latin America, Mexico, North America and Canada, the Middle East, the Far East, Japan, China, North Africa, Western and South Africa, the FSU and Europe.Out-of Work activities include Light Aviation, Early Music (Viols, Recorders etc)Specialties: Engineering reports for Insurance Underwriting and Broking.
