Investigated the in vivo mechanisms by which acellular dermal matrices enhance tissue regeneration in the context of abdominal wall repair and breast reconstruction. Developed benchtop studies to mimic in vivo biological responses to acellular dermal matrices, with particular focus on immune modulation, vascularization, and extracellular matrix remodeling. Investigated the role of extracellular matrix degradation products as cell signaling molecules which drive regenerative processes in vitro and in vivo.
