Wide array of duties in the start-up phase included supporting business plans, support of fund raising, initial product definition and documentation, product research and development, project scheduling and management, process development, driving and managing the intellectual property process, budgeting, and recruiting. Managed hardware and embedded software development efforts including electrical design, mechanical design, PCB design, industrial design, sustaining hardware and software engineering, regulatory compliance, component engineering, document control, technical and user documentation, outside consultants, interfacing with contract manufacturers, and the intellectual property process in which >25 utility and design patents were filed during my tenure, on which I was an inventor for about half of these patents; additional patents pending.

Drove the patent process, from which 16 provisional patents were filed and 7 regular patents pending (as of 2001). Phobos was acquired by SonicWALL in Nov 2000 for $269 million, the stock value of which climbed shortly thereafter to over $500 million. SonicWALL was subsequently acquired by Dell.

Sales tripled during my tenure in this position, due in large part to renewed focus on industry-leading product development. Responsibilities included project scheduling, staffing, coordination, budgeting, hardware design, and engineering processes. Developed leading-edge audio technologies and drove applications for5 patents. Patent areas include analog-to-digital conversion, dynamic range compression / expansion, noise reduction, and lightpipe optics.
