About Turn Wales / Barod I Troi Cymru is a new agency that will be launched on 27 July2024. It will be dedicated to providing comprehensive support to the Welsh veteran community throughout Wales and to their families. Our mission is to empower veterans in overcoming the serious stress and mental health challenges often inherited from their service, as well as those experiencing difficult transitions from service. Through our services, we aim to facilitate access to counselling, housing assistance, welfare support, war pensions guidance, and peer mentoring. Our commitment is to ensure that veterans receive the necessary resources and assistance to lead fulfilling lives beyond their military service.Provide an Outreach: Mentoring Service: All mentors involved with “About Turn Wales”, will be veterans who have experienced their own difficulties, who have had the ability to “bounce back” from their issues who will have that ability to offer service from a lived experience, this process has been proven as a simple and invaluable process for veterans and families who have struggled with mental health and addiction issues. Mentors who possess a lived experience will provide real time guidance and encouragement, with sound practical advice to help a brother / sister veteran to navigate their specific challenges to build a resilience from the assistance of the mentoring program, The veteran-to-veteran peer mentoring programme will importantly act as a filter for VNHS (Wales) swollen numbers of veterans applying for therapy, when a service of mentoring is needed, the service provide this service from a professional filter for referral by determining if the service user requires mentoring or therapy.
