We were a through the line commications agency that took a 'buyer side' approach to developing communications. We specialised in launching new brands and our most successful launch was for Ocado, which was hailed as the Direct Brand of the Year by Precision Marketing Magazine. -
Planning PartnerHhcl And Partners Jun 1995 - Jan 2000I was a Planning Partner at HHCL (voted Campaign magazine's Agency of the Decade for the 1990's) working on a host of the Agency's accounts. HHCL was probably the most innovative, rule breaking agency around in the 1990's and built a strong international reputation. The work for Tango, the AA, Pot Noodle and Egg (to name but a few) still seems fresh today. And it was all great fun.

Account PlannerBates Dorland Oct 1990 - May 1994I joined what was then the UK's 3rd largest ad agency in the midst of a recession as the sole graduate trainee (they usually took on 8-12 every year). It was a fantastic opportunity, giving me the chance to get involved in the agency's best work, including award-winning campaigns for Heinz, Land Rover, and Bass Brewers. I learned so much from talented, senior people who were generous with their time. Funnily enough, the next graduate trainee a year or two later was a certain David Golding...we still enjoy working together.
