• Provides mentoring and guidance on successful completion of Material Inspections (MI’s) by the Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) and Mid-Cycle Inspections (MCI’s) conducted by the Type Commanders (TYCOM’s) to Squadron/Strike Group Material Officers, ship’s Engineering Officers, Damage Control Assistants, and Damage Control Senior Leadership for Cruisers, Destroyers, Mine Countermeasure and all Amphibious class ships in fleet concentration areas of San Diego, Norfolk, Yokosuka, Sasebo, Hawaii, and Rota.• Routinely leads a group of Damage Control personnel from the TYCOM, ISIC, and Readiness Assist Teams serving as subject matter experts (SME’s) in the assessment and training of all shipboard damage control equipment during MI/MCI visits on post modernization CG's, DDG's, LPD’s, LHD’s and LSD’s as part of the INSURV Readiness Assistance Team (IRAT), funded by NAVSEA. Provides a detailed report of shipboard assessments conducted and a recommended plan to DESRON/PHIBRON/TYCOM representatives and Commanding Officers. Effectively mentors ship Department Heads based on the ship’s current employment in the Fleet Response Plan.• Analyzed INSURV Readiness Assist Team reports, creates lessons learned briefs and developed a detail schedule of events on Damage Control systems to assist ships in the planning, preparation and successfully executing INSURV MI’s and TYCOM-lead MCI’s. Identified deficiencies as material checks are conducted which assisted the Maintenance Community with prioritization of repairs.• Developed a readiness and trend analysis of shipboard Breathing Air Charging systems that identified system and equipment recurring discrepancies that were considered critical, significant and minor degradations to the demonstrations for ships during INSURV MI/TYCOM MCI. - Enlisted as a Damage Controlman, advanced to Chief Petty Officer and served onboard a Guided Missile Cruiser Nuclear, Spruance Class Destroyer, and Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer. - Served as the Engineering Department Leading Chief Petty Officer, “Top Snipe”, in Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer during a 6 month deployment, qualified as Engineering Officer of Watch (EOOW). - Served as Commander Naval Surface Force Atlantic Fleet Damage Control Assistant. • Organized and executed Material Assessments on 30 Atlantic Fleet Ships resulting in improved Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) Damage Control Scores by 19% between 2005 and 2006.• Fiscally orientated and resourcefulness was personally involved and oversaw a fleet redistribution of Damage Control Equipment from decommissioned ships, resulting in a direct cost savings of over $800,000. • Managed the distribution of $5.5M in funds as the Task Manager of the Naval Sea Systems Command Preservation Teams to complete 68 preservation projects onboard Norfolk ships. • Assisted Naval Sea Systems Command in hosting 2 Damage Control Working Group Conferences attended by over 300 Sailors, 150 DOD Employees, and 40 vendors. Assisted in the prioritization of over 250 Fleet action items. Revised and implemented damage control, firefighting, chemical, biological and radiological defense policy and doctrine for the U.S. Navy Surface Fleet.• Supervised and evaluated 23 Senior Damage Controlmen who conducted pre-deployment certification of 62 Naval Warships.• Scheduled Damage Control missions for all Norfolk based ships. Coordinated 225 missions on 62 ships with over 35,000 man hours of shipboard training and assessments with 0 scheduling conflicts.
