Roger Ng, MD is cardiologist board certified in cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine passionate about bridging technology applications and AI for healthcare. He specializes in diagnostic imaging and treatment of congenital heart disease, valvular heart disease, coronary heart disease, heart failure, and arrhythmias. He is trained in cardiac imaging with multiple modalities including nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, coronary angiography, and coronary cardiac CT. Roger Ng was born in Vancouver, B.C. and had an early passion for computer sciences and biology in high school. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelors of Science in Cellular Biology with a specialization in genetics. During his undergraduate studies, he began research on neurons at the Kinsmen Laboratory of Neurological Research. He was intrigued by the way brain and studies molecular biology techniques to probe the brain's innate mechanisms of learning, memory and protection during stress. After graduation, Roger pursued medicine and while obtaining his medical degree he simultaneously worked at the National Institute of Health doing research on aging on the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging, America's longest-running scientific study on human aging which began in 1958. With extensive imaging data collected longitudinally, analysis was challenging to do by hand. And so, from 2004 to 2005 Roger turned to computer programming and implemented computer vision techniques and dynamic programming to extract features. In 2009/2010, Roger completed his residency training and became a chief resident at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. While in Massachusetts, he found a passionate group of residents working in cardiac research. With his knowledge and background in molecular biology and computers, he took gene chips to study the gene expression of ten thousand genes in endothelial cells to understand coronary disease.Roger now practices in Seattle, Washington.
