I have responsibilities as a Director, decision maker, leader, manager and executor, and am involved in all aspects of the day to day running of the business.

I managed and led a team of 30 HSE inspectors during the shutdown of the Reficar oil refinery in Cartagena (Colombia), and ensured a safe process and system of work, implementing & managing the client Standard HSE&S Management System, Programs & Procedures in line with the OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001certifications on the Project, promoting a culture of continuous improvement in accordance with a zero harm philosophy. Other responsibilities included inspections, investigations and audits and assessing HSSE performance to identify areas for improvement, cause analysis & fault tree analysis preparation, and designed, developed & delivered all relevant training programs, from induction through to operational work process.

Requested to resume management of the overall health & safety function at this organisation (Please see below). Subsequent to an initial and comprehensive gap analysis and strategic review, I was tasked with developing and implementing a UK-wide health & safety strategy for the organization across 20 regional offices and 4-country headquarters, and thereafter directing, leading and evolving the environmental, health and safety (EHS) and security function. Subsequent to extensive liaison and consultation with all levels of management, I designed and compiled 51 policies, procedures and guidance notes bespoke to the organization and its scope of works, ensuring operational and strategic legal and regulatory compliance and adherence, through the introduction of effective and safe systems of work, health and safety documentation, an audit regime, fire safety and general risk assessment processes. In addition to the above, I kick started and delivered an all encompassing bespoke safety training program to over 1000 members of staff across all offices, based on CIEH courses. Ongoing courses for supervisors and managers, fire safety and fire marshal, dynamic risk assessment, risk assessment and manual handling were delivered on a regular / ongoing basis. In effect, I developed and implemented HSSE management systems that were in line with BS OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001, and attained the relevant certification and accreditation in March 2011.

Subsequent to an initial and comprehensive gap analysis, strategic review and overarching risk assessment, I was tasked with managing and leading the Council’s health & safety function and team of 10 officers during an efficiency review process, devising appropriate health & safety strategies and standards, and promoting awareness of and compliance with relevant legislation and best practice across all areas of the Council, including their social housing section.The above involved a comprehensive review, update and sometimes overhaul of existing policies, procedures and guidance notes; a realignment of Departmental and individual objectives, based on realistically attainable objectives and targets; the implementation and partial delivery of a training strategy; a review and update of the Councils relevant risk registers and risk assessment processes; and a review of the overall safety management systems, both operational and strategic.

My main objectives were the undertaking of an initial gap analysis and strategic review of an organization that was subject to an intense and controversial efficiency review process, and to manage the safety function and remit at both operational and strategic level on an interim basis. I designed and implemented a health & safety strategy for the organization for implementation on a national basis across 10 regional offices in England, developed and compiled a suite of 45 policies, procedures and guidance notes, and delivered senior management training in health & safety.

I worked as interim health & safety coordinator for the Road Network Management Directorate responsible for ensuring the health & safety strategy and operational compliance of the Highways Maintenance contracts.

I carried out audits and inspections, and delivered training to various construction companies undertaking major build projects in Central London and the Docklands. I also worked at HMP Brixton for 2 months advising on the strategic development of their health & safety remit.

I undertook a comprehensive health & safety risk assessment of Kuwait Petroleum’s Training Centre, and devised and compiled a complete set of bespoke policies and procedures and HSE manual to the highest possible standards.

The organisation consisted of 70 sites with a geographical spread across the UK. Based in London, I assumed overall responsibility for the Health & Safety Department. Tasked with developing, leading and managing Addaction’s health & safety planning, policies, risk assessments, audits, inspections and training to ensure legal and statutory compliance.

Based in Madrid, the overall purpose of my position was to provide world-class profitable FM services within Spain and to develop Citex people and capabilities to country level. My responsibilities were to proactively manage customer relationships ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. I managed all contractors and service providers, delivered services to agreed and specified standards and set key performance indicators. I also advised clients on all statutory regulations and approved codes of practice in respect of Health & Safety, Environmental and Business Continuity issues, managed expenditure within agreed budgets, actively sought new business within Spain, prepared proposals, fee bids and delivered presentations.I oversaw in an operational hands-on capacity various blue-chip corporate contracts, including Cisco, Accenture and Cable & Wireless.In addition, I provided a wide range of consultancy services to a select number of blue chip clients across the European spectrum (UK, Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, Russia and Sweden). These services included Business Continuity Management Plan audits and analyses, the practical implementation of quality management systems ensuring legal and statutory compliance, Health & Safety audits, Corporate threat risk assessments, interim management, recruitment strategy advice, and the review and drafting of staff policies & procedures.

Based in Doha, I was responsible for formulating, producing and managing the Industrial Security Training and Development program on behalf of the Corporation. I structured the training and development programs, and ensured that they mirrored international standards of competence. I raised security awareness throughout the corporate asset via a coordinated program of seminars and on the job training for the furtherance of asset protection, which in turn produced a significant reduction in the corporate financial loss. I researched and designed the budgetary requirements for the training and development strategy, prepared and practically implemented Departmental Policies and Procedures and Quality Management Systems, conducted audits of documentary security throughout the corporation, devised and implemented an IT information security policy, and assisted in the corporate and local threat risk assessment program.

Working in a corporate environment within the financial sector, I was responsible for reviewing and enhancing all Facilities related operations in the Luxembourg, Frankfurt, London, Hong Kong and Sao Paulo offices. I devised and implemented an approved training programme for facilities personnel, reviewed service provider contracts by introducing performance measurement indicators and controls, and drafted and implemented generic operational policies and procedures and quality management systems which were implemented globally. I undertook physical security, health & safety and fire risk assessments of all the regional offices and sites in Luxembourg, and implemented measures to neutralise all risks identified. This in turn led to the introduction of a fire safety programme, which included producing and implementing a staff training programme and fire evacuation plans.

Based in Al Khobar, I was contracted in order to undertake a comprehensive risk analyses of the Company’s headquarters and newly built state-of-the-art hospital, and devise an operationally feasible business contingency plan. I also designed and implemented a health & safety and security training programme for an in-house team of 230 personnel and supervisors, incorporating national custom and law.

I was responsible for the effective delivery of all facilities related operational services to the University. I was also responsible for developing and implementing the Quality Management System including procedures, processes and standards for security, risk management, business continuity, emergency reaction and health & safety across the department and University. I assumed overall responsibility for the ongoing training requirements of the Department.

Responsible for the operational management of the in-house security team at the store, and all related health & safety issues. I implemented and reviewed the store’s loss prevention policies, emergency contingency plans and health & safety policies, ensuring legal and statutory compliance.

Served as a uniformed Patrol Sub-Unit Commander and a Detective Inspector.

Responsible for all operational, administrative, fleet management and contractual aspects of the business. I was instrumental in the procurement and management of two major prison service escort contracts, and also obtaining an international shuttle service licence to Spain.

I served at Hackney Police Station undertaking uniformed constable duties. During my term I was attached to DSU (District Support Unit) and Regional Crime Units. I resigned from the Force having been awarded a certificate of exemplary conduct.
