I was instrumental in designing information architectures and systems to move business processes to the online environment and pioneered this development in the 2010 suite of SharePoint, SharePoint Designer, InfoPath and Visio. I worked across multiple departments and projects to design, implement and train employees to use the new system which involved the use of online and real-time training programs.By way of example, this included:• Systems to publicise training and professional development programs and allow users to apply and have their application approved by their line managers• Analysis of specific departmental information and data requirements and the establishment of appropriate content structures, permissions and workflow processes• Design and development of an online Performance Appraisal system with personalised document and form libraries and defined workflow processes to ensure data integrity and security. My role included the work begun when employed as a member of the Berger-Hill Joint Venture (see below) to enhance the ability of the company to build the capacity of the local Qatari employees to allow them to effectively fill project management positions on the QPM constructions sites – a national initiative called Qatarization. Working in the Microsoft SharePoint environment I enhanced the Training database and designed and developed a Career Path and Personal Development Plan system. Materials Development AdviserBasic Education Assistance For Mindanao Jul 2004 - May 2009Mindanao, PhilippinesBEAM was an 8-year AusAID funded project which aimed to improve the quality of, and access to, basic education in the Mindanao Regions XI, XII and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) of the Philippines. My role specifically was to build the capacity of assigned subject specialists and teachers in schools to design, write and use curriculum materials based on modern educational pedagogies. My project management skills were required in many areas as outlined below.Capacity Building ― to build the capacity of education professionals to improve the teaching and learning environment in schools. Needs Analysis ― established what teaching and learning resources were readily available and how useful and relevant those resources were and where the greatest areas of need were.Monitoring and Evaluation ― designed and implemented a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation program involving teacher, administrator and student interviews and questionnaires together with classroom observations. The results were used to continually modify the approach to the materials design and the associated training programs and to provide feedback to AusAID on the likely long-term benefit of the program. Learning Guides ― topic-based booklets with instructions and resources for teachers combined with related student activity materials for all levels of Elementary and Secondary English, Science and Maths were written. Acumen – a Learning Guide System. I conceptualised, designed and wrote the functional specifications for a web-based content-management and distributed authoring software application called Acumen. Training and Mentoring - developed and ran training sessions and provided on-going mentoring support for senior Regional and Divisional Education Department personnel, BEAM staff and teachers in schools. I established Materials Development Centres in each of the 3 regions to facilitate the timely production of high quality materials for use in schools.
