I am an experienced attorney having been in active practice over 46 years with hands on experience in litigation, business transactions and other facets of law, including of course my specialty, franchising. For the past 17 years I have taught a comprehensive Franchise course at Baylor Law School, Baylor University, Waco, Texas. In addition to teaching at Baylor Law School, I practice law in the franchise sector, serve as an expert witness in franchising matters and am a certified mediator. My previous experience includes as counsel to numerous franchisors, a YUM Brands franchisee, a successful business owner and a private legal practitioner, which gives me unique insight into what makes a successful franchise system as well as what doesn't. As Chief General Counsel, I led Curves to openings in over 85 countries which included compliance with all applicable country laws including franchise statutes, social media laws, privacy laws, intellectual property laws, etc. Experience, creativity, persistence and perseverance are at the core of my success and have helped me become a thoughtful experienced advisor, a skillful negotiator and a “can do” closer. One is never too old to learn and one should always be guided by the "think big" mantra. My daily goal is to motivate my staff, my students and clients. Each day is a precious gift and I look forward to the challenges, people and events that impact my life on a daily basis.
Listed skills include Franchising, Mergers And Acquisitions, Contract Negotiation, Licensing, and 46 others.
