Roger Shamas started American Window Fashions (originally established as Bay Ridge Window Shade Corp, also known as AWF Industries) in 1980 out of a small storefront in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Starting out with little resources and  complete learning on the job, Roger has now been in business for over 40 years, and has built AWF into a well-oiled enterprise of distributing fabrics nationally, exporting internationally, fabrication, and installation for wholesale, commercial, and retail window treatments. Having started from humble beginnings, Roger is no stranger to the hustle. He sought out experts in the industry and learned the best techniques from them. He often attends seminars and conventions in order to keep track of the latest innovations in the field. He is often the first one to arrive to work and the last one to leave, and when he's not in the office, he's either in the field talking to clients or supervising installations. His business and personal ethos as a self-made businessman is on constant self-improvement and expansion in the market. If there is a new business opportunity within the field, we will pursue it. American Window Fashions is the major fabricator and installer for schools, colleges, and major institutions in the tri-state area. Having previously worked with the School Construction Authority and the Board of Education, AWF can fulfill specific school specifications (including Spec 12500 and 12501) for classroom windows, lockdown shades, sunscreen shades, and stage curtains. We're well-known our expedient service; no deadline is too tight. We have also worked with CUNY, the FDNY, the NYPD, the Dept of General Services, and the Dept of Children's Social Services. In the retail/residential market, we carry every major brand including Hunter Douglas, Graber, Springs Window Fashions, Levelor, Somfy, and Bali. We also have extensive experience with motorized shades. We maintain our retail showroom and workspace in Brooklyn for customers to browse our large selection of custom window treatment options. AWF is also proud to have a warehouse in North Jersey that serves as our base of operations in regards to managing wholesale fabrics. The warehouse is constantly being updated for more storage, and Roger personally supervises every loading and unloading of containers.
