Following a 2020 move into a new factory Melpass Ltd has been re-named as Liquid Science Solutions Ltd. Following this re-organisation of the company, I have continued as the Sales Department Manager to manage the day to day work of the Internal Sales Department and managing the links between the External Sales Force and the Sales Department. Working closely with the Sales Director, I also have responsibility to work on several key account customers, Sub-Distributor accounts. This role includes managing links between the Sales Department, Operations and Production Department, Administration Department and the Dispatch.My original position was as a member of the "Merchants Trade Retail Team", which dealt primarily with the plumbing and builders merchants. My present role still covers this sector, but now includes the whole product range of chemicals and aerosols for the cleaning chemical supply industry, engineering industry, car industry, caravan & boating supply industry, printing industry, rail industry, food manufacturing plants, leisure industry, educational establishments and all commercial premises.

Due to staff changes at the Head Office I was asked to move into an office based role as the new Manager of the Telephone Sales Department, planning and taking part in the customer service care of a large customer base of telephone sales accounts, covering the whole product range of chemicals and aerosols and covering the countrywide and European customer base at Melpass.Job role included liasing with the external sales force and the telephone sales team, recruiting for the telephone sales team and the training of the new members to the telephone sales team.

Initial responsibility was to establish myself as part of their "Merchants Trade Team" with responsibility for the sales into the north of England territory area. The target is to grow both the sales of their "Liquid Science" chemical range into the plumbers and builders merchants in the northern area and to increase their customer base on this area. Due to my chemistry knowledge of the cleaning market sector, my sales remit will also include 'specialist' chemical sales for other trade areas including biocidal disinfection cleaning chemicals for the artificial grass suppliers sector and the caravan, camping and boating toilet chemical distributors.With my 25 year chemical sales background, this is a new exciting challenge following on from my redundancy from the teaching profession at the end of 2014. This was a great opportunity to re-establish my sales skills and with my background knowledge and organisational skills, I forged a new career within this well established chemical manufacturer.

As part of the "work based" teaching and assessing team. I specialised in the NVQ / QCF courses and Apprenticeship courses for those employees working within the cleaning industry. This covers employees who work in general cleaning, kitchen cleaning, food production area cleaning, or specialise in floor maintenance care and carpet cleaning. Learner's were taught and assessed in their own workplace, with knowledge training sessions on their specialist area, portfolio knowledge building, assessment work and observation assessments of their physical work.For the Apprenticeship cleaning courses, this also included preparing leaners for their exams in Functional Skills for Literacy and Mathematics, providing workshop sessions on improving these areas prior to their examinations.In my first full year in this post I completed my own courses for the City & Guilds 'A1' Assessor Certificate Qualification and the Teacher / Training Certificate Qualifications of 'PTLLS' and 'CTLLS'. For the Apprenticeship courses In 2014, I completed the Functional Skills Level 2 Mathematics certificate qualifications (to update my 'O' Level qualifications from 1980), to qualify me to teach my learners the 'Level 1' qualification in mathematics.Government austerity measures in Further Education in 2014 withdrew the direct funding of this course and hence under college restructuring at the end of 2014, my post became redundant with the closure of the prime cleaning courses........ Time for a new challenge.......and a return to chemical sales in 2015.

I had 25 years service at this company which manufactured it's own range of cleaning chemicals and worked as a distributor for several large national and international companies working within the cleaning industry, including cleaning equipment sales. Starting as a junior Sales Office Administrator, and progressing internally in the sales administrative duties to Sales Office Manager and then to Assistant General Manager, before progressing to the External Sales Team as a Junior Sales Executive and over a period of years progressing to the role of Field Sales Manager. External Territory Sales included geographical territories + Specialist Contract Sales for Cleaning Equipment ie NHS Hospitals; Education Authorities; Contract Cleaning Companies, Contract Catering Companies.General territory area for everyday consumable sales related to the cleaning industry and paper disposables covered - the North West of England and most of Yorkshire. Certain contracts required extensions to this territory ie. Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire + Northumbria.
