About Roger Undefined
Hello, my name is Roger Mann. I have no recognised higher education qualifications and was a very extreme excessive class A drug addict for 25 years. I have been trying to find recovery since 2020 and at first found it extremely difficult to admit my defects and take responsibility for the carnage I caused. I had no understanding of how much of a drain on tax payers resources I was and blamed everything and everyone else for the situation I found myself in. I was a prolific retail offender but I did have certain morals and was never violent or aggressive. I was extremely fortunate to be considered for an initiative by West Midlands Police called the offender to rehab program and subsequently started taking buvidal which is an opioid antagonist treatment and attended a residential rehab to address my mental health issues caused by crack cocaine and spice. Buvidal and rehab changed my life and I was able to rebuild my life in a recovery community and started volunteering almost immediately to try and carry a message to the still suffering addicts. Unfortunately 10 weeks ago I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which has spread to my liver and without treatment i was given 3,-6 months to live. I was refused chemo 6 weeks ago but I have not let that stop me from fighting on and I have a second opinion appointment which may include clinical trials which I'm more than willing to take part in as i believe I have a lot to offer the fight against addiction, mental health and all the other issues that come with extreme excessive addiction. I have a good understanding of how the mind of an addict works and the most important thing to understand in my humble opinion is individuality and that every active addict has there own individual issues that stop them from finding long term recovery. I am also extremely passionate about educating people about addiction and truly believe unless people agree that addiction awareness needs teaching to children of primary school age.

CurrentI was an active addict for over 25 years and found recovery in 2020, I have completed 2 residential rehabilitation programmes and have been on the offender to rehab program from day 1, I have done methadone and subutex detox's and eventually found a treatment called buvidal which allowed me to get 16 months clean from opiates and address my mental health issues caused by crack cocaine and phycosctive drugs. I was then able to start volunteering for a recovery community and work with various organisations including Next , Timpsons through the offender to rehab program.
