Impact Associates, a US corporation, is a consortium of Kenyan business and transaction advisory firms (“Associates”). Collectively the consortium Associates have over 50 years of experience in their fields, with a successful track record of closed transactions. Associates are firms whose core business is strategic business advisory services and financial transaction advisory (fund raising debt/equity) for enterprises across east Africa. These services include financial and strategic management, investor readiness packages, and deal execution, to name a few. Other Associates include venture capital funds, carbon credits market specialists, leadership development capacity building and executive coaching.

US-based non-profit, CoolCap supports the transformation of smallholder farmers into successful producers by providing them with proven equipment and credit they can afford. Highlights of Accomplishments:● Built a financing model based on harvest cycles, value chain relationships, and equipment proven to increase production, reduce drudgery, and improve the lives of farm families.● Launched the model successfully in Sub-Saharan Africa where 80% of all farmers are smallholders and yet only 3% have access to credit.● Built partnerships and negotiated agreements with value chain players including technical assistance providers, produce buyers, and equipment suppliers to scale up operations.

I am responsible for the successful implementation of this USAID funded activity that is creating a sustainable, market-based ecosystem for finance and investment (by mobilizing private capital) into horticulture, dairy, livestock and other value chains. I oversee the management of all administrative and programmatic functions and activities, as well as supervising project staff and providing oversight on human resources matters. I provide technical assistance and training as required to financial sector actors and small, medium and large firms within the target value chains with the goal of mobilizing significant private capital to these sectors. My role also involves supporting the development of strategic partnerships to mobilize capital, enact improved policies and improve DCA guarantee utilization. For leading development organizations, NGOs, technical assistance providers, private companies, and governments, I drive improvements to agricultural financing, leasing, and strategic business management in emerging economies worldwide. Highlights of Accomplishments:● Established 2 captive equipment finance divisions and 3 start-up leasing companies as expert in lease and secured transaction law. ● Directed growth of a $14M loan portfolio for rural agriculture in Zimbabwe that leveraged 50% private sector funds.● Created an $8M wholesale credit facility in Armenia to expand lending to rural agriculture. Rolled out training to 7 partner banks on credit administration, collections, and loan workouts.● Managed a $250M loan program for small businesses in post-war Bosnia, increasing lending from $4M to $10M per month with 11 partner banks.

For saving institutions under conservatorship with $55M in assets, I improved liquidity and operating efficiencies while handling loan workouts, asset recoveries, and complex litigation issues against debtors and bank officers. Highlights of Accomplishments:● Managed $450M loan portfolios and reduced loan delinquencies from 10% to 2.5%.● Directed sale of 25 banks with assets up to $500M by analyzing institutions, developing marketing strategies, and conducting bidder conferences. ● Created a strategy that resulted in new legislation to rehabilitate distressed properties in underprivileged, urban neighborhoods that is still in use today across the US.
