Roger Peck is an experienced research scientist and portfolio manager with extensive background leading studies involving product development of diagnostics suitable for low-resource settings. Mr. Peck led PATH's work assessing HIV rapid test quality and HIV self-test technologies that resulted in the first publicly available Target Product Profile for HIV self-tests. Currently, he leads PATH’s activities with assessing the quality of rapid and laboratory-based HIV assays and reagents for the USAID PEPFAR Global Health Supply Chain Quality Assurance project, manages the Washington COVID-19 Biorepository, and leads PATH’s work in developing rapid tests for surveillance of primary immunodeficiency disease and novel HIV self-tests. As Associate Director of Technology Advancement at PATH, he is responsible for leading and implementing PATH's strategy for product development and evaluation. Additionally he is responsible for project management, laboratory-based tasks, quality assurance, and other activities related to the development of diagnostic tests for neglected tropical diseases, malaria, and other infectious diseases and conditions. Previously he led PATH’s work in developing and implementing rapid tests for onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis and the quality systems necessary to support the tests, as well as leading PATH’s supported product development within the cervical cancer diagnostic technologies (START) for both HPV nucleic acid and onchoprotein tests. Before joining PATH, he worked at OraSure Technologies where he conducted product design and development. He also oversaw several aspects of OraQuick HIV production scale-up, including complex automated equipment acquisition, installation, and training. At Saliva Diagnostic Systems he researched rapid immunochemical diagnostics for infectious diseases.
