    Major milestones achieved during my chairmanship:Student Team ExcellenceI secured funding and collaborated closely with the CSULB AIChE Student Chapter to expand competition teams and industry outreach to foster a strong sense of belonging through teamwork. Our Chem-E-Car team won the state championship in April 2019 and Western SRC Student Poster Competition 1st Place Award in Fall 2023, respectively.Master's Program DevelopmentIn response to our students’ demand for advanced Chemical Engineering studies at CSULB, I spearheaded the establishment of the new MS in Chemical Engineering (MSChE) program by drafting the proposal and navigating the review process. Our MSChE degree program, the second such program within the CSU system and the only one in Southern California, officially started with the inaugural class in Fall 2019.Securing Resources for Research SuccessTo build a supporting environment for our students, staff, and faculty to pursue their intellectual growth and success, I significantly restructured our department office, streamlined operation protocols, and worked closely with the CSULB College of Engineering (COE) Administration to secure the maximum resources possible to support all Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity (RSCA) in our department. Between 2019 and 2024, our department has secured more than 5 million dollars in grants for collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects.
