I’ve continued to develop my skill set since the summer of 2011. From 2005 to 2011 I was an Advisor on UK consumer policy responding to the challenges of an area of work affected by the economic downturn from 2007/08. I serviced the needs of a wide range of stakeholders and customers, including businesses, ministers, and members of the public. In later part of this period I took the opportunity to develop my mentoring skills and help others pursue their professional development goals. However in 2007 my long-held professional development goal was met by earning a post-graduate qualification in Managing for Equality.Between 2000 and 2005 I was responsible for elements of project management involved in implementing and raising stakeholder awareness of the Employment Equality Sexual Orientation & Religion or Belief Regulations. My professional development goal was met by delivering stakeholder’ capacity building workshops.

In this period I produced a range of quality results (in personnel & resource allocation then subsequently equality & educational policy). My competencies included: effective stakeholder communication; chairing partnership-building meetings; completing evidence-based case work; delivering ad hoc projects in a timely way. My results benefitted a wide selection of customers including: departmental Ministers; Senior Civil Servants; business organisations; representative bodies and members of the public. In this period my professional development goal was met by activities. First, by completing a departmental career development programme; secondly by undertaking a trainer training programme.

In parallel to my paid career I developed additional unpaid skills which I offered back to the community. I have been a voluntary director (and chair) of a flat management company since 2003. I have also been the Chair of Safer Neighbourhood Panel, influencing local policing priorities since 2007.Recently I was Chair of Hoe Street First Community First Panel (spring 2012 to spring 2013).
