For two years I taught at Minatare Public Schools in the Junior/Senior High School building as a Language Arts Instructor. I taught English 7, 9, 10; Speech, Drama/Theater and Journalism. I also coached the One Act Play Production and was the Speech Coach.

Begining in August I will start a new career as a high school teacher. For the last two years I have been working to make the change. I am currently enrolled with UNK's Transitional Teacher Program and am close to completing my Language Arts endorsement. In addition, I will also be coaching the speech team. I can't wait to begin this new journey.I will leave the Star-Herald newspaper in mid-June after nearly 13 years and more than 20 years in journalism.

When we first moved to Scottsbluff from Sidney, my title was City Editor and I was in charge of city news; to make sure all of the important stories were being covered by staff or by myself. Three years later I was made assistant editor and have a number of duties including management and reporter/photographer.

While living in Sidney I worked for the Star-Herald newspaper and covered news, sports and features. I was also a photographer and covered stories along Interstate 80 from Kimball to Chappell and also in Dalton and Gurley.

Was in charge of covering all high school sports activities for eight schools in our region. Also did digital photography and lay-out of newspaper.

I worked as a sports reporter for the paper, which was printed three days a week in the afternoon. I covered the sporting events from six schools, was a photographer, was in charge of the darkroom and traveled to state tournaments when teams qualified. I also attended and covered a University of Nebraska football game and two Denver Bronco games when they played at Mile High Stadium. I left the position because the publisher told me that my wife's work as a stringer for the Star-Herald was a conflict and that either she quit or I would be fired so I quit. I returned to the paper in 1998 as the sports editor and then in 1999 the Sidney Telegraph was purchased by the owner of the Sun and the two papers merged to form the Sun-Telegraph.
