Rogério Castro, CEO of UPL Brasil and advisor, is an executive with agriculture in his DNA.Agronomist graduated from the Universidade Federal de Lavras, Castro has more than 30 years of experience in agribusiness and agriculture finances. He is also alumni from the Advanced Management Program (AMP 190) at Harvard Business School.Before joining UPL, he was Operating Partner of the agriculture portfolio at Patria Investment, serving as president of Grupo Lavoro (Lavoro Brazil and CropCare in Latin American and Grupo Gal in Colombia). He was also an executive at corporations such as Cyanamid, FMC, Monsanto, Swiss Re and MDM. Castro helped the introduction of genetically modified soybeans and the development of cotton biotechnology in Brazil.He advocates sustainable agriculture, combining global food safety and environment preservation. Castro works for low carbon agriculture and for social development to build an increasingly active agribusiness.Castro is also an entrepreneur and an impact investor. He was one of the founders AssociAção Vida, a non-governmental organization that promotes social and educational skills for young people in vulnerable situations.He is proud of his rural background.
