I was a hands-on "coder's coder" for my entire career, except for a brief period when I attempted management, at which I sucked. I worked for some very cutting-edge companies for their time - OS/2 operating system development at IBM, cell phone handset applications firmware (pre-Apple/Android era) at Sony Ericsson, secure websites for major government agencies (DHS, CDC, DOJ, et al) at RTI, computer vision software at Barr-Mullen. I wrote a few apps on the side but mostly worked for the man in corporate positions. I only had 5 jobs in the 30+ years since getting my degree; I was a loyal employee and survived many layoffs. I made an above-average living, was never out of work, looked forward to going to work every single day, and solved every technical challenge ever presented to me. Overall, I had a great career.

Decided I wanted to "be all I could be" so I applied for and was accepted into the West Point Preparatory School. Graduated the Prep School and received 1 of 100 Regular Army appointments to West Point. Completed West Point Beast Barracks summer of 1982. Decided not to make a career of the military and resigned to pursue other interests.
