After a long career as a print journalist -- covering sports first, and news later -- I moved on to a job In communications in 2019. The good news is, I didn't have to sell my soul. I work as Communications Manager for Community Medical Centers in Stockton. CMC is a large health system in San Joaquin, Solano and Yolo counties that serves low-income, uninsured and homeless residents, providing high-quality medical, dental and behavioral to people who might otherwise not be able to afford these services. We serve about 100,000 patients a year and we continue to grow.As a journalist before coming to CMC, I covered the NFL, NBA and NHL as a beat writer for various teams including the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Lakers and the San Jose Sharks. In 2007, I transitioned into a job as the Stockton Record's education beat writer. In 2014, I became City Hall reporter at The Record.
