Roger Mathisen is the Director of Alive & Thrive in East Asia Pacific and Innovation Incubator at FHI 360 Global Nutrition. He is a clinical nutritionist and health manager with over two decades of experience working in civil society organizations, the United Nations, academia, and the private sector. Before joining Alive & Thrive and FHI 360, Roger worked as a nutrition specialist for the Norwegian Refugee Council and UNICEF, and he provided technical capacity and emergency support to countries in Africa and Asia. Roger has been a member of several global and regional WHO Expert Committees, including for the Management of Acute Malnutrition, Breastfeeding Evidence, Breastfeeding Counseling, Childhood Obesity, and Protection of Children from the Harmful Impact of Food Marketing. Roger has also been a member of Technical Advisory Groups at McGill University (PROSPERED project) and Yale School of Public Health (Becoming Breastfeeding Friendly initiative). He is currently a member of the technical advisory panel guiding evidence-based investments by the Power of Nutrition.Roger has co-authored over 60 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and facilitated research dissemination and uptake in advocacy to inform policy and program design and execution. He is an editorial board member of several international peer-reviewed scientific journals, including the World Nutrition Journal of the World Public Health Nutrition Association and BMC International Breastfeeding Journal. He also frequently reviews manuscripts for consideration by The Lancet, BMJ, MDPI, Wiley, and Springer Nature Group journals.Roger has received several awards for his service and dedication including a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Contributions to the Children of Viet Nam from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Memorabilia for the Contribution to People’s Health from the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
