KEY SKILLSI am a golf historian, writer, editor and speaker, specialising in St Andrews, Old Tom Morris and legends from 1800's to 1920.My book, St Andrews-In The Footsteps of Old Tom Morris won the USGA's Herbert Warren Wind Book Award 2015. My 2020 book, St Andrews - The Road War Papers won the award in 2020. At The Open 2016, I was presented with the British Golf Collectors' Society Murdoch Medal - the highest British honour for golf literature. In 2019, I became editor of the British Golf Collectors' Society magazine, Through The Green. It is wonderful publication featuring the latest historical research.I enjoy giving talks both formal and informal about Tom Morris and golf history generally. Advising TV shows and films on golf historical content is something I have been enjoying. This follows writing scripts for and helping productions such as the 'Golf History with Peter Alliss' iPad application.In the last few years I have appeared in numerous TV and film productions including Loopers and St Andrews - The Greatest Golf Story Ever Told. In addition to being a contributor to podcasts and articles for papers such as NY Times, I have also written for various golf publications worldwide including Links, Golf Illustrated.My books are in development for a feature film plus an animated short film.

The first book was published in 2014 and is called The Fine Art of Golf. There are now 8 books namely, Fine Art of Golf, St Andrews In The Footsteps of Old Tom Morris, Little Tommy Morris, A History of Golf, St Andrews - A Comfort Blanket for the Hapless Golfer, 9 The Links, St Andrews The Road War Papers, Little Lady Margaret Scott plus The Golfer's Guide to St Andrews, which was exclusively for Alliance and printed in English and German. I have submitted a biography of Allan Robertson, with the hope of publishing in November 2024. In the process I have become an expert on St Andrews and am available for opinions, guidance, walks and talks on the history of the golf spots in St Andrews and the evolution of the Old Course.Interested in heritage projects that celebrate history, be it golf, influential people and royalty. I am currently working on numbers projects such as a Tom Morris statue in St Andrews and plaques for Allan Robertson, Sir Hugh Lyon Playfair, Tommy Morris and Mary Queen of Scots.
