The Lean Iterator is a validation process to help entrepreneurs go from idea, to product, to business. Using Customer Development and Lean Startup principles and tools the process helps founders work through iterations of shipping the value proposition to real customers - allowing them to learn their way to great businesses. We've run 60+ entrepreneurs through the program via workshops, accelerators and an incubator. Some of the partners that we've worked with include: Standard Bank innovation, Allan Grey Orbis Foundation, UCT Graduate School of Business and Ideo.org. As a Startup Studio, we're half way between a business incubator and a software dev house. We take in entrepreneurs with ideas in the one end, help them create business plans, do customer research and raise funds - as well as have the technical team that builds and launches the product. This is done on a startup friendly cash/equity basis and our goal is to help you get independent within 2 years. As ops man I oversee the client mangement portfolio, project manage the software development and over see all the day to day running of the Cape Town office. It pretty much entails everything from solving client issues, improving the app, HR, community management, reporting and putting out fires in general. It's fun, diverse and everyday brings new challenges.

By focussing on creating tangible actions, I manage the day to day tasks of the various projects that Silicon Cape is currently undertaking. I act as the main channel between the Silicon Cape initiative and the community.

I am currently taking some time off and looking for new and interesting opportunities in South Africa in or around Tech and IT entrepreneurship. I have chosen to dub this period as my "mid-life retirement" with the definition of retirement as being a state where one wants to work instead of having to.Some of the projects that I have been working on during this period are: - Helped Si Ekin, a personal life Coach, to create a tangible product out of his methodology and philosophy in helping people achieve their goals. - Did an internship at Personera, a web based Social Media print company. Duties entailed setting up and running a Product/Market fit and Customer feedback survey, Social media linking and blog post generation and editing. - Internship at penny auction site Yastic.com. Did full product history analysis, worked with online Facebook ad spend and MySQL reporting. - Project managed a yacht's stopover on her around the world tour. This entailed organising contractors, parts and minor labour on the yacht. - Looked after a brand new Southern Wind Shipyard 110ft sal boat. My responsibilities envolved looking after it at nights when the workers were not onboard and being responsible for the R100mil asset during a 2 month period.- Business consulting for advanced prosthetic studio, Cosmesis. Looked at company structure, contracts, expansion and marketing plan.

S/Y Meteor is a 170ft (52m) schooner. I was rotating between Chief Engineer and Deckhand, 3 month rotation. My job portfolio was system maintenance and trouble shooting for all systems on board. This ranged from Servicing Engines, Plumbing, Air-conditioning servicing, water filtration and desalination plant maintenance, computer hardware and software updates and maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, overseeing contractors and workers, and a wide range of hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic work as well.

Ultima Novia is a 130ft luxury superyacht, who I joined in May 2006 as a Deckhand. Within the first month of being on board the engineer handed in his resignation and I was offered his job. We went through an extensive yard period, with myself and another tempory engineer overseeing all the work being done onboard. Shortly after the yard period, due to the owner having some personal problems, the boat was unfortunately laid up and the entire crew given the ease. I left on a good note with a favourable reccomendation.

Trafik Student Networks was founded my myself and my Partner, Sheraan Amod. We started Trafik Student Networks to provide more effective and innovative ways to advertise and market products and services to their relevent student demographics. The company ran successfully in 2005 until mid 2006 when, due to high study workloads and myself being given another oppertunity, we unfortunately had to close the venture.

Throughout the latter part of school I dicided to earn some extra money by DJ'ing. I took a loan and bought some sound equipment, which I paid of very quickly. I DJ'ed at a wide variety of functions and was the sound engineer for a couple of local bands. I still hire out my equipment for various functions, as a form of easy extra money.
