I am now in my 3rd year as Wine Dept. manager at Sendik's-Franklin. In that time I have cleaned up the department & stream-lined our product selection. My focus is to offer our customers wines of great value for the price, many of which are not found elsewhere. Most importantly, these items must appeal to our unique customer base. Sendik's allows us the flexibility to offer different products at each store tailored to our customers' tastes. I feel that wine-snobbery makes folks feel uncomfortable and self-conscious, so I avoid it at all costs. Everyone has their own taste preference and fortunately there are wines of every description to fit any palate. My aim is to make sure everyone feels good about the wines they choose.The changes I have made are getting good resluts: Sales and profits continue to increase each year. That means my customers are happy & are returning to buy more.If you are interested in hosting a wine tasting event, I am available. The experience I have gained as a Toastmaster has helped to make my wine presentations as entertaining as they are informative!Credentials: I have worked with some aspect of wine for the last 35 years. I started as a home wine maker at age 16 and worked at retail wine stores in Cincinnati and Boston. In 1988, I moved to Germany where I worked with both wine production and sales. While in Europe, I toured many of the classic wine growing regions of Italy and France. Upon returning to the US, I worked in the wine wholesale business for over a decade. Since then I have worked in various retail wine and restaurant positions.Unlike most "wine guys" who specialize only in wine, I also have extensive beer knowledge as well. I take a similar approach to beer as to wine, recognizing the many different styles and their unique flavors. Being a home-brewer has been especially key in understanding the complexities of beer!
