Functions such as project planning, installation, testing, maintenance, support, backup and restores, performance and tuning, etc.Performed DB2 software release migrations to deliver new features and maintain currency.Performed DB2 system catalog reorgs to improve data throughput and overall response time.Build new DB2 Subsystems to support new applications and/or processes.Lead project involving end users, applications, DBAs and production control to replace our current software supplied by multiple vendors with a software solution provided by one vendor. The expected savings to the company was ten million dollars.Provided 7 x 24 on-call support to ensure availability of database subsystems and related software products.Performed annual Business Recovery exercises to restore all production DB2 subsystems.Provided extended client community support outside my normal job scope to achieve success for the business when the applications programmers and DBAs were outsourced.Facilitated training sessions for our clients after new vendor software tools were installed to insure that users were able to take full advantage of the new software. Wrote SAS programs to monitor DB2 subsystem usage, resulting in CPU savings by condensing and shutting down unused subsystems.Stepped outside my knowledge base by upgrading our IDMS databases to the new release of software.
