Mammotome products enable doctors and technicians to provide "care that drives decisions" in the detection and treatment of breast cancer. As a mechanical design engineer at Mammotome, I am responsible for the design of both capital equipment systems and associated disposable components of our biopsy devices as well as tissue markers.

I engaged with clients, both internally and on-site, on product development and design challenges, from initial concepting through prototype production, using CAD, FEA, and risk-mitigation documentation. I also maintained our quality incident log and helped lead root cause analysis / corrective action implementation.As Co-op Program Manager: interviewed, selected, and mentored students during their time with ITE, selected and guided co-op mentors, and provided performance evaluations at the end of each semester. Expanded program by 2~3x in number of students.As 3D Prototyping Lead: brought FDM and SLA production capability in-house, coordinated all part printing, maintenance, and purchasing activity within our team. Created best-practice documentation and provided new-user training.

Through ITE I was contracted to support the Ethicon team in the development and deployment of their next generation of surgical robotics tools to be used in endoscopic surgery. This role involved CAD modeling/drawing, structural analysis, Design for Manufacturability, tolerance stackup analysis, and supplier interaction.

I led a team of designers in the creation of animatronic figures for theme parks and museums all over the world using Solidworks, FEA, and hand calculations; I also mentored co-op students, coordinated/evaluated outsourced design team’s project work. Partnered directly with the client creative directors and engineering leads to delivered designs which best captured the customer’s intent. I worked with a team of engineers to develop the next generation of all-terrain vehicles for Honda. This involved the day-to-day use of CATIA to create models of components and assemblies, interfacing with suppliers to get prototype parts fabricated or mass-production parts spec'd and quoted, liaising with our manufacturing facility to support the mass-production of our products, and partnering with contracting staff to get all the work done that is needed to deliver on Honda's longstanding reputation for quality.

I led a team of seven seniors plus underclassmen in the design, fabrication, testing, and competition of an off-road racing vehicle at two of the 2013 Baja SAE competitions, Baja SAE Tennessee Tech (Car #22) and Baja SAE Rochester (Car #97.) We achieved the best finish is school history, taking 12th / 100 overall at Baja SAE Tennessee Tech.

Created engineering designs for automation equipment to be used in the food packaging industry as well as creating solid models and production drawings in support of the engineering team.Major Project – Designed the infeed inverter and pick-place robot tooling for a food packaging machine; prepared motion simulations for customer validation.

Assisted with the engineering design and created solid models as well as production drawings in support of the engineering team using Solidworks.Major Project – Designed the shaft assembly for large disk filtration unit to be used in the paper processing industry.

As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op I implemented lean principles on shop floor, created and modified technical documentation, and coordinated with outside suppliers as needed to support the Engineering Department.Major Project – Modification of lever arm production processes to reduce manufacturing time.

As an engineering co-op in the production engineering department at Steelcraft Mfg I dealt with all aspects of the production line, from tooling design to plant layout work. I also provided critical in-department software development resources (design and implementation of a data collection system.)Major Project – Created a computerized system to track rework on production floor. I wrote the code and oversaw implementation of the project; estimated savings of $500,000 in the first year.
