This Headquarters provided a deployable function to Senior Army Commanders and their support staff of 500 strong. I was responsible for the development, design, operation, and improvement of the Advanced Headquarters which creates and delivers the Army planning and operation control procedures. During this period I provided planning guidance and strategic overview to this team of communication subject matter experts. My team of 32 communications experts delivered the ability for the Battalion Commander to direct operations during UK operations as well as operations in Afghanistan. The communications team provided a secure network to the soldiers whilst deployed all across the United Kingdom during the Fire Brigade Union Strikes. My team was strategically placed in order to react, under the direction of the Government, in the event of an emergency. A secure communications infrastructure was built to allow the Commander the ability to control the safe and efficient movement of his soldiers and subordinate commanders around the United Kingdom. I deployed to Afghanistan during my time as Senior Communications Officer. I was employed as the Battalions Battle Captain, responsible for enabling the execution of the commanders intent by controlling all movement on and off operations. When the operation was handed over from the planning phase to the execution phase, I responsible to provide current battle command and control. I was able to facilitate the execution of the commanders plan by supporting ground operations with thorough communications, ground and air support.
