As mission planner for the DC-8, SOFIA, C-20, and ER-2, I coordinate with the Aircraft Commander, mission director, and campaign lead scientists to develop flight plans that meet science objectives while maintaining aircraft safety. I coordinate with Air Traffic Control and foreign agencies to ensure flight plans are legal and deconflicted from all other air and military activities. As the DC-8 Navigator, I coordinate with scientists, mission directors, and aircraft commander to make in-air safe and legal changes to the flight route to meet dynamic science objectives. As the C-20 mission director, I run and maintain operations of the mission system while assuming the responsibility for mission crew safety.
