Provided data-driven consultation to internal and external business partners, largely centered around care quality, and the transition towards value-based payment.Projects have run the gamut from machine learning classification models, to data visualization in Tableau, extensive SQL and R scripting on core business datasets, training colleagues in R programming, and mentoring newly-hired teammates.Highlights have included:- Building a brand new patient-doctor attribution dataset from the ground up, as part of a small agile team. Required extensive Teradata SQL scripting on massive datasets, and careful design of the approach and implementation to allow for integration with ongoing value-based transformation efforts across the business.- Consolidating data across dozens of sources and formats into a centralized lightweight database, to enable more efficient reporting on care quality, Medicare Stars performance, and efficacy of outreach programs. Required serving as a liaison between internal and external business partners, requiring clear communication and effective coordination. Also involving extensive data processing work in Teradata SQL, R, Alteryx, and Tableau, to ensure a continuously-refreshed stream of data from back-end sources all the way to user-facing self-serve visualizations.

I built a web app called The Lyme Forecast, in which I use climate data to predict year-to-year fluctuations in Lyme Disease across the northeast US. The model uses a Random Forest Regression machine learning algorithm, and involved managing data across 500+ tables in a Postgres database. Much of the climate data was extracted from geographic raster layers and shape files.Also built prototypes for two side projects, one a visualization of the elevations of America’s highways using the Google Maps API, and the other a tool for birdwatchers to find locations to visit using the eBird API.

I used agent-based simulation models, multivariate statistical analyses, and multi-year field surveys to study the movement behavior of animals.As a teaching assistant, I helped develop curricula, led lab sections, and led discussion sections for courses on introductory biology, research methods for non-scientists, field biology methods, and several upper-division field-oriented classes. I was awarded an Outstanding Teaching Award in 2013, and nominated for that award every year of my time at the University.
