One Degree mentors and empowers GCSE students from disadvantaged backgrounds by developing their self-belief and transforming their academic performance.

Since 2011 we have travelled over 40000km, visited 353 towns & 152 projects, with the help of 405 hospitality partners to connect inspiring projects and individuals with each other, share their stories with the world and help take them one step further with contacts, ideas and funding. We are literally 'Driving Change' across Southern Africa!

The BEACH Festival is an initiative that aims to foster community integration and promote sports development. It focuses on including everyone in the fun, regardless of age, gender or background. The main USP however is the fact that the festival is run as a series of individual events in various locations rather than a replicated coastal tour. This format not only allows the towns that host the individual events to highlight and promote what is unique about their area, but it encourage local participation and sponsorship.Sustainability is one of the project’s core values and so it promotes mindfulness of the environment as well.

• By 2011, EDGE of AFRICA was recruiting a high volume of volunteers annually and continues to run a hugely successful operation. • EDGE of AFRICA created a niche offering in the volunteer-tourism industry by providing increased personal service; value for money; project monitoring; result-based experiences offering valuable cultural exposure, knowledge and integration, trained volunteer co-ordinators per volunteer group; and personally implemented, managed and operated projects, for which it achieved national recognition at the South African Tourism Awards as a nominee in 2009 and overall winner in its category in 2010.• EDGE of AFRICA secured three annual nominations for the World Travel Awards from 2008-2011 and continues to receive acclaim in relevant fields across South Africa.
