Biobanking and BioMolecular resources Research Infrastructure The Netherlands (BBMRI.NL) makes biomaterials, images and data from research retrievable, accessible and exchangeable by uniting, connecting and supporting Dutch biobanks and data repositories. BBMRI.NL is the Dutch node of the European BBMRI-ERIC research infrastructure.My focus was on Sustainable & Interactive Biobanking. Together with our partners and professionals in the field we aim to improve the sustainability of individual biobanks and the Dutch biobanking infrastructure as a whole.

Together with her partners, Triade offers access to knowledge, talent, market, real estate, and financing. Together with colleagues and external parties I worked on setting up Pharma Connect Capital (a regional early stage drug development fund), and the Pharma Portal (a knowledge infrastructure for assisting early stage drug development projects from industry and knowledge institutes), in addition to other projects related to life science and business.

By establishing long-term relationships with all stakeholders our team aims to further develop the Campus, overcome challenges and reach shared goals. My focus was on the Life Sciences, Biobased Economy, Energy and Climate. I worked on business & community development and branding of Campus themes, mostly by developing our bidbook strategy.

The LIFE Cooperative unites regional Life Science and Medical Technology enterprises to increase the innovativeness of the Northern Netherlands. The LIFE Cooperative develops solutions to meet shared challenges and increase efficiency. Collective training, combined purchasing, shared visits to international fairs and congresses, and joint innovation projects are some examples.I was responsible for developing the Human Resources side of the LIFE Cooperative, focusing on collective training and events. Furthermore, I worked on monitoring, business development and collaborative innovation projects.

As part of my Science, Business and Policy master I worked at the Centre of Health Protection, Department of Product Safety, under supervision of Dr. Ir. Connie Brouwer and Ir. Robert Geertsma. During my internship I analyzed RIVM foresight studies with the goal of improving organisational learning and increasing quality. Results included a checklist document for designing foresight studies, a method selection tool and advice on how to improve RIVM foresight studies. Subsequently, RIVM announced the following year as "year of the foresight study" (Jaar van de Toekomstverkenner).In addition I contributed to a Horizon Scan concerning the current and future use of nanotechnology in different categories of medical devices, and the associated risks and opportunities. The results were presented at the CLINAM congress (Basel, 2015) and published in a public RIVM report.

Rochester, Minnesota, Usa

Research Internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (MN, USA) under the supervision of prof. dr. Jan van Deursen (Mayo Clinic) and dr. ing. A.J.A. van de Sluis (UMCG). During my internship I studied the effects of several human oncogenes on chromosome segregation and aneuploidy in murine fibroblasts using live cell imaging and confocal microscopy, among others. As a side project I also studied mitosis in induced pluripotent stem cells.

During the internship I studied the role of specific microRNAs in TGF-beta induced endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndoMT), using RT-PCR, western blot, and immunoprecipitation.
