Asset Liability Management (ALM) consultant for the Pension Risk Management department, mostly working with Dutch pension funds. In the end mainly responsible for (all) consultancy activities for a couple of large pension funds in the Netherlands, which also included business development. Learned to work with Ortec Finance software at expert level. Coached new junior consultants and managed them on my projects.Consultancy topics included ALM-studies, Risk Management (Monitoring), new legislation (nFTK). Presenting results for boards of pension funds was regular.

Amsterdam Area, Netherlands

I completed an internship of 6 months at the Pension Risk Management department. Activities included modelling liabilities and gaining experience with actuarial calculations. Learned to work with Ortec Finance software and helped senior consultants with ALM-studies and Continuity Analyses. From this I gained a good understanding of the Dutch pension system and got familiar with investment strategies and products, indexation schemes and premium systems. Next to that developed a strong sense on how stochastic modelling of economic variables is used in Financial Risk Management.

Leiden

Eight months of internship at the Leiden Institute of Physics, department Granular & Disordered Media, guided by prof.dr. M. van Hecke.I developed an experiment to investigate the 'nonlinearity' of propagating shockwaves through a three-dimensional granular medium. This experiment formed the basis for my MSc thesis in Physics.In november 2013 a paper based on my experiment was published in Physical Review Letters.

Leiden

Gave additional lessons (as 'tutor') for a group of 5 students on all first-year physics courses and prepared them for their exams. The lessons were mostly about: Linear Algebra, Calculus, Optics, Classical (Analytical) Mechanics and Electrodynamics.Furthermore I worked for 3 months as assistant to the first year physics course 'Electromagnetische Velden (Electromagnetic Fields)', during which I rated the home-assignments and the exams.

Leiden

Seven months internship at Leiden Observatory, department Large-scale structure and Cosmology, guided by prof.dr. H. Röttgering.Contributed to the calibration process of the new LOFAR radiotelescope by searching for high redshift radio galaxies (HzRGs) using preliminary data from the telescope. This internship formed the basis for my BSc thesis in Physics and Astronomy.
