About Robert W. Gross, Ed.D.

First, in 1984, I earned a Doctor of Education Degree from Penn State University. There, I studied acoustics, aesthetics, music, and research design, among other subjects. My flawless approach to research resulted in the Graduate School awarding my dissertation an excellent rating. Second, I have more than 25 years of experience teaching on all levels of instruction. At the higher education level, I was an adjunct professor at Penn State University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, New Mexico State University, and South Texas College. As a public school teacher I taught in both elementary and secondary schools. In addition, I successfully worked for more than 17 years as an educational administrator, change agent, curriculum specialist, troubleshooter, and turnaround specialist. I also oversaw programs at the renowned Booker T. Washington School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas and the Classen School of Advanced Studies in Oklahoma City.Third, I have worked with all aspects of education standards and assessments. As the Multimedia Assessment Specialist for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in Washington, DC, I developed assessment frameworks for the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), and I investigated applying technology to performance-based assessment systems. Fourth, in a desire to contribute to society by eliminating educational inequality in low-income communities, I joined the AmeriCorps organization. I used the performing, literary, and visual arts to improve the quality of education in schools near Mexico.Fifth, after 23 years’ as a teacher and 17 years’ as an administrator, I embody a depth and breadth of professional experiences which translate into a deep understanding of how each component of a system ought to function. I am a creative leader who is an intuitive innovator fascinated by possibility and passionate about carrying out my ideas. I constantly work on solutions and then let my solutions work on me. I make things happen and I get things done. I take pleasure in maximizing others. Thus, I generously give of myself so that I am useful to others.Specialties: I am a researcher, scientist, anomalist, writer, presenter, and educator who began his professional career as a classically trained musician. By nature, I am an accomplished artist who chose music as his preferred medium of expression. However, out of necessity, I became a scientist and aggressive researcher. Currently, I am retired and living, as well as conducting research, in the Chicago Area.
