1.) Provide engineering and technical leadership in the engine room 2.) Compose detailed strategies to carry out planned engine and equipment maintenance, condition monitoring, formulating and evaluating alternate plans, identifying conflicts and tradeoffs, while adhering to strict budgets and timelines3.) Apply Analytical skills in the operation of sophisticated electrical and mechanical systems 4.) Interact and liaise with regulatory agencies such as ABS/DNV-GL and Port State authorities5.) Interpret technical literature such as General Arrangement plans, electrical drawings, manuals, technical publications and Stability booklets to perform calculations and calibrations to identify and troubleshoot technical problems 6.) Oversee in-house R & D projects 7.) Organize and lead weekly team meetings and one-to-one follow-ups to track progress and share relevant updates

1.) Removal of burnt out Exhaust Valves and Valve guides2.) Isolation of High Temperature leaks Heavy Fuel leaks3.) Repair and calibration on Electrical Safety Sensor systems4.) Main Engine major bearing overhauls on all Main Bearings due to spark erosion

- Performed maintenance and repairs of Ancillary machineries including: 1.) Air compressor rated 30 bars2.) Hydraulics high pressure steering gear pump (ram type)3.) Fuel purification systems such Mesh filters and Separators4.) Remote operations valves (hydraulic/pneumatic)5.) 7Kg/m2 oil fired boilers (Aalborg boilers, Sunflame)6.) Pumps (centrifugal and positive displacement)7.) Vacuum toilet systems (Jets Vacuum systems) and biological sewage management systems8.) HVAC systems and Sabroe Compressors

Under Maersk's Dual Cadet Program, which was a pioneering course at the time, I have had the opportunity to apprentice both as a Deck Cadet and as an Engine Cadet. End of the program I chose to pursue engineering and I have not looked back since. The part of the program I enjoyed the most were the intensive training periods on-board these massive Container Ships, whose engine rooms when laid out deck by deck stretch over an entire football field. Here is where I practiced, learnt and dreamt.
