With over 25 years experience in mining, infrastructure construction, and mining services at executive, general, and project management levels, in Australia and internationally, with both mine owners and contractors, Rohan has a unique experience set in building, improving and running mines. Skilled in both underground and open-cut operations, across varied commodities, he has a reputation for strong leadership, getting the job done, and making things happen. He is a successful agent of change, excellent communicator, and a successful team builder and developer of positive operational culture.Rohan quickly identifies, develops and implements strategies for progression and improvement, prioritising greatest effect targets on a priority basis. Working for mining contractors for much of his early career, Rohan became the person for commencing green fields’ projects and the rectification of poorly performing projects in Australia, and subsequently internationally, and he developed excellent contractual and commercial skills during this process. An eight year involvement with New South Wales coal fields operations saw Rohan develop expertise and excel in applied industrial relations, negotiating several enterprise bargain agreements resulting in industry best outcomes, successfully managing numerous formal arbitrations and industrial court actions. This extensive and hands on IR exposure strongly influenced his strategic view and capabilities generally, in addition to developing his strong negotiation skills, and man management prowess. Rohan established ‘green fields’ international operations in Indonesia, and Colombia, and has been responsible for the successful operation of all Australian, Indonesian and New Zealand Coal operations with a major contractor. He has built mining infrastructure and established underground operations in Africa, building the infrastructure for the world’s first fully automated underground mine.Most recently he has run two of the three major shaft sinks in Australia, being involved in winning the tender, leading and establishing the early works team, building the site team and commencing site operations for the Tanami 2, Headframe and Shaft sink construction.
