Process Development Scientist at bluebird bio with an undergraduate as well as Master's degree in Bioengineering from Cornell university. I am currently working at bluebird bio on the Sickle Cell process development team.In my last role at an upstream process development group with Eurofins, I gained experience in process development, mammalian cell culture and the execution of bioreactor runs for data-driven decision making for the production of drug products. I also developed strong interpersonal and organizational skills to work within a team in a challenging, creative, and dynamic environment.At Cornell, I gained extensive experience working with and modifying bioreactors as well as with 3D printing. Through my Master's Design Project I have learned how to manage personal projects over a given time frame and how to write and research a published work. I have also done work with GSBR reactors and using new engineering tools with limited guidance, such as Process Controller and the Enterolert system. I challenged myself at Cornell with a rigorous academic course load in the areas of Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering and Microbiology. I was an early admit to the Master of Engineering program at Cornell doing it in parallel with my last semester of undergraduate studies due to my strong academic focus and work ethic. After four years of rigorous team based engineering projects and performing in the Cornell marching band, I have developed the strong interpersonal and organizational skills to work within a team in a challenging and creative environment. I am a National Merit Scholar, a National AP scholar, Rensselaer Medal recipient and was on the Cornell Dean's List.U.S. Citizen

Throughout 2016 I worked in the lab simulating the small intestine using bioreactors. The purpose of the project was to develop an avenue for studying intestinal cells without using animal models or other less accurate in vitro models. Responsibilities and tasks included:• Created and modified bioreactors using CAD to be used in experiments involving intestinal cells and the effects of different bacteria on them. Bioreactors were used in place of live subjects to better understand and study cells. In the summer of 2015 I worked in the lab dealing with waste water and its treatment at Cornell University. The purpose of the project was to investigate using granules as a method to clean wastewater and to test whether these reactors would be a better alternative to current cleaning methods.Responsibilities included:• Worked with Granular Sequencing Batch Reactors (GSBR) used to clean synthetic wastewater• Created reactors using instructions from a research paper. Timings were set using a program called Process Controller which was developed by a Cornell professor - this program had to be first learned before it could be applied.• Collected water samples from streams in the Ithaca area. Tested water using the Enterolert method to look for Enterococcus levels in the water.• Gained more experience in learning how to use new engineering tools with limited guidance. Learned independence and how to troubleshoot new equipment.

In the summer of 2014 I worked in a research lab concerned with analyzing compounds secreted by cells and determining if they were harmful to the environment.• Analyzed Pseudomonas Putida cells for lab and the fluorescent compounds, or siderophores, that they secreted.• Gave bacteria various organic acids and varying amounts of iron needed to make the siderophores. • Analyzed the secreted compounds using a fluoroscope and presented the experiment to the professor and colleagues at the end of the summer.• Gained an appreciation for the type of work done in Biological Engineering and an increased motivation to do lab work in this field.
