Rohan Smith is a technology and business professional with extensive experience in high-frequency trading and market-making industries. He started his career as a software engineer after graduating from Sydney University with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. Rohan worked as a freelance programmer, building websites for small businesses throughout his study. Upon graduating, he honed his engineering skills in the Insurance industry, building underwriting systems for the largest insurers in Australia.Rohan's entry into trading began in London, building trading tools and strategies for many leading trading desks across Europe and the US. His interest in high-frequency trading culminated with his arrival at Optiver in 2012, a placement that would go on for the next decade. Rohan has held many roles within Optiver, driving results and delivering technological innovations that have brought Optiver to the top of the global trading houses. Rohan is an active technology start-up investor and board member. He joined the Giffin Theatre board and underwent professional training on Board Governance at the Australian Institute of Company Directors as part of the Observership program. He was invited to join the Board of Invertigro in 2019 and acts as Investment Director. He actively advises a series of start-ups on their technology strategies and business development. Rohan is a father to two sons and enjoys many activities related to the ocean, most notably ocean swimming and scuba diving.
