Once that was done, I replicated that magic into the mobile apps (iOS & android) and the blazingly fast mobile site as well. Our android app was featured in STUFF magazine- Collaborated tightly with engineering, operations & design team to ship important updates to the product- Managed the entire transition of the product (url structure, re-directions, collateral etc for both desktop & mobile) when it was rebranded from "Squeakee" to "OffersOn" - Pioneered & implemented the below 2 ideas: i) The concept of "Hold" via which users could use to connect with local merchants & "Hold" their desired products for a later purchase ii) The strategic WhatsApp based offers acquisition which significantly brought down the offer acquisition cost. This not only saved money but also enhanced the offer details since adding images, detailed merchant & offers description became easier- Understood the requirements of the sales team & also wrote specs for the first cut of the OffersOn business app- Managed investor meetings, gave detailed monthly updates to investors & fielded other queries. May 2010 - May 2013Bangalore, Karnataka, In- More than anything, the 3 years at Quikr taught me to thrive in ambiguity.- Created the product strategy & wrote detailed specs for the desktop & early versions of the mobile (app and site) platforms. Then, closely engaged with the design & engineering teams to successfully meet very aggressive release deadlines. The platform I built is robust & by May 2013, it had scaled to one which was used by 26mn users every month- Regularly & throughly assessed the competitive landscape of both horizontal & vertical classified sites (both Indian & global players). This fuelled multiple discussion session wrt the shorter & longer term product vision- Managed strategic & operational partnerships. I evaluated, on-boarded & worked very closely with SMS & payment gateway providers, content partners, mobile VAS companies, call center providers & telecom operators. Setup the first call center & scaled it from a team of 2 to ~20 members- Was a core member of the team which launched the innovative & one of its kind, missed call based ad acquisition. -
Product ManagerMicrosoft Sep 2008 - Feb 2010Redmond, Washington, Us- I was a product manager in the Windows Live Cross Network Monetization team. The goal of the team was to, tastefully, introduce Windows Live users to Bing (search engine) & MSN (Microsoft's portal offering news, games, video etc) and make them loyal users of those 2 services as well- I partnered with the MSN & the Bing teams to formulate a cross network strategy from a product & marketing POV, create execution plan and the set of metrics (XNI - Cross Network Index & AOU - Audience Overlap Uplift) which would be effective in understanding the impact of the tactics. - Analyzed the data & collaborated with teams spread across ~15-20 countries helping them implement marketing campaigns which resulted in an enhanced cross network activity. - When the focus became more towards making Bing the destination search engine, I worked with the X-Network team to connect with a set of markets & helped them understand what they could do (from marketing & product POV) to drive user acquisition for Bing via leveraging the current Microsoft portfolio of products. I would consistently track & analyze the data and send out detailed reports to the entire Windows Live team (including the group's GM)- As a side project, I worked with an external agency to plan, design & ship Microsoft’s first student website optimized for a mobile phone in just 8 weeks. The team had 3 members & I was the Team Lead. -
