Rohan Walters is the principal designer of Spaces By Rohan Inc., an independent design firm working with architects, engineers, interior designers, businesses, property managers and homeowners creatively solving their design needs since 1987. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo. Spaces By Rohan Inc. has also been responsible for the complete development, design, and construction of three ‘alternative’ homes in the Toronto: 157 Coxwell Avenue, 1292 and 1294 College Street. Two projects were acknowledged in UTOPIA, Towards A New Toronto, Coach House Books, 2005. These houses represent the ability to craft necessary, artistic; economically appropriate solutions in a positive and unexpected way. Rohan Walters’ work has been featured in the Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, City TV and other media sources. 

Rohan has taught at the Institute Without Boundaries (IWB), a cutting edge program dedicated to preparing architecture, design, engineering and other students to re-conceptualize the process of design at George Brown College. He has also been a guest lecturer at the Ontario College of Art and Design and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers. Rohan Walters is an Art Director with the Directors Guild of Canada and worked on such films as CAVEMAN’S VALENTINE with Samuel L. Jackson and GETTING OVER IT with Kirsten Dunst.

Designed and Built a prototype infill house on a former driveway. The original lot was used to park 2 cars. Now the lot houses an 1084 square foot 2 bedroom home on 3 levels. The black block front will be the backdrop for a vined facade. It's ground floor is designed to be 'visitable' that is to say friendly to those who cannot walk perfectly. The ground floor is also designed to barrier free and self sufficient from the rest of the house if required. The new insulation methodology incorporates both a radiant heat barrier as well as a conductive heat barrier. Interior light and translucency is unique and surprising. Finally, the creation of the a courtyard space at grade and a rooftop patio make for a great generosity of space and use in a otherwise very tight site. The Public presentations will take place most likely in the late spring or early summer.

In film and television production, set designers and art directors are tasked with implementing the vision of the production designer that incorporates scale, budget, aesthetics and timing to marry with the construction crew to construct on-screen sets for filming/video. My experience in design, architectural drawing, coordination with engineers, contractors, trades, artists and project development and project finance have made me an easy fit in most Film/Television Art Departments.

Some of you may be aware that I am proud to be a member of the Theatre Gargantua Board of Directors. For the past 19 years, Theatre Gargantua has been creating landmark multi-disciplinary theatre in Toronto. After being privileged to witness such plays as E-dentity, I was moved by the very creative art direction and stage design woven into unique story telling methods. It was a privilege to have been asked to help raise awareness of this truly original theatre group.Gargantua continues to push the boundaries of multi-disciplinary theatrical arts in Toronto. For each new cycle of work, we collaborate with numerous artists from a variety of disciplines. We experiment with cutting edge technology and through which we discover new creative forms of expression. Our non-traditional method of creation allows for more people and more time to be spent on developing new cycles of work.We have a 19-year history of training and mentorship by providing innovative, accessible workshops as well as artistic opportunities for youth.

Setting curriculum, administering assignments, setting lectures, co-lecturing, grading and evaluation, debriefing and advising on student mission statements, goal setting and career directions.
