Part of designing a transportation device for human use in space environments.Owned and designed system which connects high-voltage battery pack to downstream systems. System is responsible for controlled energization of HV bus, and protection against HV currents in rugged environements. Focused on rapid fault tolerant overcurrent protection to protect downstream components. Conducted FET analysis based on component tolerance for absolute current limit to mitigate nuisance tripping. Enhanced current/voltage sensing capabilities through analog circuitry.Used LTSpice to model system fault analysis. Individually conducted system trades, component selection, analysis through LTSpice, schematic capture on Altium, and test plan development. Owned system in weekly client presentations, justifying and communicating complex technical concepts to stakeholders.---I was extended the opportunity to continue my internship into the school year and test the system. Conducted functional and characterization tests and conducted root cause analyses. Used test equipment such as oscilloscopes, high voltage power supplies, thermal cameras, ELoads, CLI and PC to DUT Setup, to observe behavior of device. This experience has been incredibly valuable to own a design from beginning to end, and build experience in understanding a system from both theoretical (design) and application (test) standpoints.
