Designing and developing MPPT Solar Charger Systems

 Working on GridBallast - a research project funded by ARPA-E and led by NRECA under Dr Anthony Rowe.  Developing low cost control devices for water heaters that can operate autonomously for demand-side load management Interfacing with the emerging Smart Grid standard CTA-2045, providing a modular communication interface for energy management(Demand Response programs) in consumer devices. Developed FreeRTOS based firmware on a custom ESP32 based controller board: developed drivers for UART/ I2C/SPI interfaces, grid frequency measurement, power measurement, Wi-Fi and GUI(buttons and LCD).

Bengaluru Area, India

-Worked at the Department of Electronics Systems Engineering (DESE) under Prof TV Prabhakar on system designs for Energy Harvesting applications including electronic schematic design, PCB fabrication, Hardware integration and Embedded software. - Created novel Energy Harvesting technology for Bearing Condition Monitoring for HCL technologies, from concept to working prototype. -Designed an electronic system for non-invasive measurement of bearing temperature using Neodymium magnets.-Designed and Fabricated a custom PCB integrating electromagnetic energy harvesting, sensing and Bluetooth communication functional blocks, capable of working with 5mW power.-Designed the energy harvesting block consisting of an axial coil, boost converter (LTC3105), supercapacitor and interfaced the ARM based nRF51822 micro-controller with BLE functionality to a hall sensor (AH8500). -Developed an embedded C based power management algorithm to efficiently manage the low power available.

-Attended a Summer School on 'Smart Energy Systems and Entrepreneurship'​, funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)- Learnt the basic knowledge and future trends in Smart energy systems (Power Systems, Liberalized energy markets, energy informatics, control systems,energy storage, E-mobility innovations)- developed entrepreneurial skills by developing potential business idea for a low cost energy monitoring device

-Interned at ZENlab(Zero Energy Networks lab) at the Department of Electronics Systems Engineering(DESE).-Undertook a literature survey of energy harvesting techniques for machine health monitoring-Carried out undergraduate capstone project on " Energy Harvesting Application for Condition Monitoring of Bearings".
