I started my career with UTi as Head of HR & Training for India operations with a then headcount of 750+ employees PAN India and in less than a year my role got expanded geographically to include Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. When I left, UTi Indian Sub Continent was 1500 plus workforce. As a Head of HR & Training and a part of the Operating Board of the company for Indian Subcontinent, I am involved in all facets of the People function across multi cultural geographies of the Indian Subcontinent. I have a matrix reporting to APAC HR Head and Indian Sub Continent Managing Director.My focus right from the start had been around ‘bringing ease’ by streamlining processes across geographies to have ‘consistency’ and ‘fairness’; building a ‘culture of care, connect and communication’; and ‘honing the talent’ to create a strong work force. As the Head of HR & Training, I took the challenge of setting up the function right from the infancy stage and built each successive year upon it with proper metrics to evaluate the functional performance. Devised HR strategy to become a business partner and supported business in key processes. Developed people practices and culture that got recognized as ingredients for building Great Places to Work. In my stint of 5 years, MakeMyTrip was ranked in the top 4 in the "India’s Best Companies to Work" study by Great Place to Work Institute, India & The Economic Times award thrice in a row. Within a year of joining, I became a part of the leadership team at MMT. After having established robust HR processes and success roadmap for MakeMyTrip, I handed it over to my successor and moved on to find yet another challenge and a new organization which was at nascent stage of human capabilities, as my heart lies in creating value through my experience and commitment.
